The White House called LGBTs part of pajama-clad ‘Internet left fringe’ for asking for civil rights

In an NBC report less than 24 hours after the President declared his unwavering support for the LGBT community, the White House has decided to sh*t on citizen journalists on the left who are simply advocating for our civil rights. This is a real shot across the bow. Via Americablog:
NBC News’ John Harwood just reported that an Obama administration staffer advisor today called the gay community part of “the Internet left fringe,” and therefore the White House is not concerned about the gay community’s, and other Democrats’, concerns that the president isn’t keeping his promises. As part of its report on today’s gay march, NBC’s Harwood said the following:
Barack Obama is doing well with 90% or more of Democrats so the White House views this opposition as really part of the Internet left fringe.
Harwood then went on to say that the White House thinks that:
For a sign of how seriously the White House does or doesn’t take this opposition, one adviser told me those bloggers need to take off the pajamas, get dressed, and realize that governing a closely divided country is complicated and difficult.

Obama had something for everyone. I understood that the US army wants more gays to be shot dead in Iraq and Afganistan.

I have read since joining this sight ( and enjoyed the majority) this one turned my stomach. It’s hard to really understand what you mean so a response is hard to formulate.

He’s got the soul of an activist, but the political machinery of the Center-Right ‘Chicago Machine’, and they seem to be doing a pretty good job of keeping him free from any of the Process we the Citizenry would consider important.
Whether Finance/Wall Street reform, home mortgage reform, healthcare reform (really!), or (now) LGBT issues, he’s allowed to go out and make his customary stirring speeches, but it’s becoming clear that what we’d hoped would be a ‘hands-on Presidency’ is becoming a ‘Figurehead Black President’ administration.
I have no doubts as to the capability of Obama’s Cabinet…they’re all experts in their respective fields. My doubts lay in trying to determine for whom they really work, and for whose benefit they’re operating. It’s already clear Tim Geithner is deep in the pockets of the Wall Street Investment Banks, Gates is owned by the Military-Industrial complex, and Vilsack might as well be working for Monsanto. I have my doubts about Sibelius, but not enough has reached the news sites I read to settle me one way or the other.
Maybe I’m reading too much into this….maybe not enough, but presently I’m feeling that I see a man who wants to do something (big…or bigger than has been done so far), but is being told that for whatever-or-other reason that it’s just no possible, and that he’s gonna have to settle for half-measures.
Maybe it’s time for a ‘Straight-talk Express’-style bus tour, and see all the people Rahm would like him to think aren’t there, or don’t really matter. Then, replace the Chief of Staff with somebody who’s more go-get-’em for the President’s agenda (as opposed to his own), and turn the VP loose on the Senate to light fires and crack heads.
Gotta get out of the bubble, see the people who voted him into office, and start dislocating shoulders for twisting arms in his Party and Cabinet, to make good on his Campaign promises—they aren’t impossible dreams, just coloured that way by people who are supposed to be working for him…..

like the candidate, does it? Maybe after all that talk, all he was was talk. This could be partly why Chicago lost the Olympics, yet Obama won the Nobel. Somebody sending a message?

A person on the left in the US, is probaly on the right in Europe. We know Europe is a pit of taxation, bad health care, short lives and low productivity. Pity the European Moneyed Class – their left have experience with pitchforks.

I think the parallel is from the 60s, you’re old enough to get drafted but not old enough to drink. Or gay enough to be discriminated against but not too gay to be used as cannon fodder in the wars. An ugly point but salient.

Since the services have been opened up more to women and they are being sent more to combat areas I think sex doesnt play into the “cannon Fodder” Why should gay folks – since men and women are fair game, be excluded from this ?
Is what the president hears that he cannot talk about. The reasons for the conflict may not be of a nature that can be spoken of. Candidate Obama would not have such access. It just makes me wonder
