Malkin lied.

Rightwing media darling - invitee to events with Republican presidential candidates - has been pulled up short, when an individual that she has been repeatedly asserting, without sourcing, did not exist in fact does. After weeks of betting that he would not be produced because it would mean the end of his career or even his life and freedom, progressive bloggers are hitting back over her gross lack of professionalism.

Well, indications are that the case against him will be dropped if the AP does not cooperate in the prosecution, but it's almost certainly going to be a career ender.

his life is still in danger. remember the reports of death squads supposedly operating out of the dept of interior? Those dudes aren't likely to take kindly to somebody talking to the Americans. Add to that the Sunnis who already don't like the police, and my crystal ball is showing me refugee visas for him and his family.....let's see what happens. Either he has to leave Baghdad or he'll probably be killed

Malkin's a propagandist.

Malkin's job is to lie. Malkin's just a good employee.

It was to the Iraq govt and ours for the wing nut bloggers to drool over this story. They would like nothing more than for doubt to be shed on facts on the ground. Another example of Iraq govt trying to control the spin can be seen here.

Truth = Incitement = Sedition

This is interesting since there have been many reports of Shiite govt officials having links with Shiite militias.

Human Rights Watch gives us The "Hoax" That Wasn't: The July 23 Qana Ambulance Attack and TPM Cafe digs up the truth on the case of the "lonely John Kerry in Iraq" photo.

Human Rights Watch trusts that, now that the truth has been demonstrated, these armchair deniers will devote their energy to pressing Israel to determine why this attack occurred, who was responsible, whether disciplinary or punitive measures are in order, and what steps can be taken to ensure that similar attacks are not repeated in the future. It would also be appropriate to press for compensation to the victims as well.

It's like we must be continually reminded that winger bloggers are completely shameless. The assertion that AP somehow committed 'treason' is not just outrageous, it's pathologically paranoid.

This episode fits in with a paradoxical outlook I've noticed nearly all conservatives have.

1. "Don't give me any bad news." Derived from "Kill the messenger." That's essentially what Malkin and Co. did here. "Global warming? HA! You're just a bastard who hates cars...cars and AMERICA!" Don't tell a conservative any bad news they don't want to hear about it; yet...

2. "That's the way it is." "The Belgians chopped off diamond miner's hands for the smallest infractions in the Congo? Hey whadyagonnado." That's the way "it" is - "it" in this case being Belgians. Konservatives will excuse the greatest outrages as just a condition of "it" where "it" usually turns out to be someone rich and powerful. In this scenario, when the rich commit some outrage, hey, they're just following some natural law - the law of "it." So the powerful are just caught up in some blind historical force called "it" so they're really not responsible for anything wrong they do.

"Michelle Malkin may have endangered the life of an Iraqi policeman? Hey, that's just the way 'it' is with those darn bloggers!"
