Woman Burns Down Tree "Older Than Jesus"


A woman in Seminole County has admitted to starting a fire that destroyed a 3,500 "Senator" redwood tree from the inside out. She took pictures and told her friends "I can't believe I burned down a tree older then Jesus." (Via TPM)

Imagine if someone demolished the Parthenon, or melted down the Liberty Bell. This is the same kind of desecration of our historical heritage. I have to admit that there's a little part of me (only a little bit, mind, not seriously) thinks some of that real old time religion wouldn't be inappropriate here.

I think some drug induced hallucinatory punishment might be, in fantasy, in order, followed by a lot of tree planting.

But nothing will bring the tree back.

Correction

Redwood trees only grow in Calif. This was a Cypress Tree but still WTF was she thinking, oh right she wasn't.
