I'll Make You . . .

. . . a deal: If you feel that strongly that Obama has done the right thing and has managed politics in the last year and nine months then you will most assuredly take the challenge. It's time to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.

Also, to prove my good faith: I'll vote for the Democrats in this election.

So, here's the deal: if the Democrats break-even or gain seats in the House and break even in the Senate, I will go out with my shotgun (20 gauge) and shoot a crow. I'll come in, cook it up, and eat it. And I will post the photos.

If the Democrats don't break even in both houses you get to eat the crow and post the photos.

Any takers? Care to put your money where your mouth is?

... I've had crow ... didn't care for it.

Pass.

ww August 30, 2010 - 7:34pm

In either case, we're all going to eat shit...

I need to do a little research before I bet. I'm inclined to stay that the Democrats will keep the House and hang in there with the Senate with a slim margin.

If I win the bet, can I forfeit the prize and keep a crow alive?

How about going over your posts from 1 to 3 three years ago regarding the economic implosion and write one up on where you were right and where you were wrong -- if at all. My guess: No crow for you.

..does not equal "The Democrats will break even in Congress."

As for your bet, yeah, the Democrats are going to lose seats. How many? It's all gonna come to How Angry And Economically Desperate People Are VS The GOP Has Gone Bugnuts Insane.

my friends think "there's no difference between repubs and dems so who cares?"

the media has been good at promoting beck so maybe the repubs will get folks out to vote because of beck.

so I'm on your side.

I've eaten crow, didn't enjoy it much. We live and (hopefully) learn from our mistakes and I've made aplenty over the years.

"Personally, I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught" - W. Churchill

I am seriously disappointed with the Dems and with Obama for not leading them. Now that I think of it, that is my chief objection to Obama - he is not LEADING. Damn it, I didn't vote for him so he could be conciliatory. After GWB and Rove and the Patriot Act, we didn't need calm and soothing words - we needed someone with a fire in his belly and the balls to take the country back from the corporations and their political toadies. I'm waiting for him to say "No More Mr. Nice Guy", whip the party into line and chase the ultra-right back into their gated communities - and take their hypocritical, pseudo-Christianity with them.

I'd love to see someone run on a Socialist ticket - where is Norman Thomas when we need him? I nominate the editors of Mother Jones, etc.
Meanwhile, while I can't in good conscience vote Democrat, I can gleefully vote against the GOP and other right-wing candidates.
(It's been so long since I voted FOR someone instead of AGAINST that I've forgotten what it feels like).

If that fails and I have to get out out my shotgun, it won't be for hunting crow.

Have eaten crow many times in my life but hope it actually tastes better in my mouth than my feet.

Think I read somewheres since Civil War party of the President has alwayd lost seats in bi elections.

Still with the circular firing squad "modern" RepubliKKKan party has become (http://empireofdirt77.blogspot.com/2010/08/happy-womens-suffrage-day_18.html) possibility of SMALL net House loss and keeping current Senate majority.

Hey, if I lose, I'll send $5 to Suburban Guerilla http://suzemadrak.com.

Would send more but you try living on a grand a month in SS disability and drink beer and keep cable tv. Of the 2, think tv worse my my health. http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/08599201433200

Besides, just imagine the McCain/Palin presidency, probably worse than the Cheney administration. Said after '08 election hope peop' don't expect too much as Obama ain't gonna walk on water. Did enjoy wearing my Obama tee into my racist redneck bar with $1 Yuengling draft.

Of course, buying this tee next: http://www.anarchtee.com/HeresYourChange.htm.

Hey, I'm a socialist, not progressive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_M._La_Follette,_Sr.

empireofdirt77 August 31, 2010 - 1:42am

The status quo is still going to take us to hell, but I believe only a Centrist with popular backing can steer us towards truly progressive change.

It ain't going to happen unless every town hall across the country is willing to call out easy solution demagogue wannabees on the crap they think will get them reelected, pass Go and collect another $200.

I won't eat a bird, but I can and do engage coworkers and neighbors who probably cancel out my vote every time. Our one rule is it has to stay civil, and it does.

xlorp August 31, 2010 - 2:11am

Neither one will come to pass. The Republicans will not gain a majority in either chamber, but will pick up a few seats and call it a mandate for the W Restoration. Come February, we are going to be right back where we are now only worse: slogging through Republican obstruction while aghast at the bonehead geniuses running the Democratic Party.

I'm just hoping Rick Perry gets tossed out on his ass. (That's why you need to vote Democratic in the state election, SPK.)

My money went to Operation USA for Pakistani flood relief. Mouth and money still wired together.

Pass.

Why not the sea gull, the white egret or the pale dove? Why because the crow is BLACK, black as coal. Now I understand that we are still biased by color and color alone. Shame on us for our bigoted outlook toward birds. What's next, fatwas against black cats?

mcgrande August 31, 2010 - 12:50pm

will have a tough time finding a crow down here. I suggest the common grackle...also a "black" bird...and probably equally as *fowl* tasting!

I was trying out the simplistic diversionary jargon used by the Baggers. I am certain you do not maintain any deep down prejudice toward the crow. Just having fun.

Cuz I might take you up on this offer (I'll have to buy pre-killed crow, tho) depending on that definition.

Actor 212 September 1, 2010 - 9:29am

amount of seats as they do now. Of course, they could lose one district but pick up a new one. That would mean they are still even.

In other words: after the November elections the Democrats will still hold 254 seats in the house and 59 seats in the Senate, which includes Lieberman and Bernie Sanders.
