All the BS going around about implicit attitudes. A few years ago, some geniuses at Yale came up with the "implicit association test", which could be used to measure one's implicit (i.e., covert) attitudes about others (e.g., blacks). Not surprisingly, now it is clear that this test is bogus for measuring long-term attitudes, as it moves around a lot with practice etc etc. But it'll be a decade before the myth gets busted.

on the self esteem talk at my daughters school. I am with you on this SPK. I agree that working violence out of the schools is very very good, but the self esteem talk is outright narcissism. I support developing self confidence, but sometimes you lose or are not good at something, and somehow you have to learn to recognize that and deal with it and move on.
