Carrie Prejean?

What am I missing? I keep seeing this woman's story pop up everywhere, from Daily Kos to the Huffington Post. I mean, who really cares? Why do we expend so much useless energy on stories like this? (And yes, I do recognize the irony of me posting about it.)

On that note: I had dinner with my Mom last night and even she was talking about her. Good grief.

so attractive, a train wreck in progress.

Christian morals beauty sex and scandal, plus its not some middle-aged politician or reverend in the spotlight.

It is 'news' for the younguns and old alike, so good fodder.

graham November 17, 2009 - 2:25pm

...it's more a Conservative thing about busty blondes spouting Party line....

case in point: Elizabeth Hasselbeck

need not really be busty or blonde.... Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin come to mind then

Wanna shoot me yet? ;-)

for the Trump miss USA pageant.

her mouth is her worst enemy, but she doesn't care any more, coz she has GOP and wingnut backing, so now she gets to spout as much as she wants, wherever she wants...

I am pretty, oh so pretty.....

At first I thought this headline was a parody by The Onion. But it's real:

Carrie Prejean? Don't answer that. I'm glad I don't know.

Palin's running mate in 2012? :)

creativelcro November 17, 2009 - 7:18pm

intrigues me.

Is it that agonistas have more lofty interests?

Something that has christian overtones overlaid with personal sexual behaviour is distasteful?

There is an interesting mix of christian morality, business, legal and sexuality happening in this story, which although I have not followed it closely, has made headlines around the world.

A quote that almost deconstructs itself:

Miss California Law Suit

‘‘With her newfound notoriety, an inflated sense of self, and the lure of financial gain available to her, Ms Prejean turned even further against the Miss California USA organisation.

‘‘She attempts to cast herself as a virtuous young woman and the victim in a supposed conspiracy against her.

‘‘Had she heeded the guidance of the Gospel of John, who admonished only those who are without sin to cast stones in judgment, she might have avoided this legal battle.’’- age.com.au

She's a real borderline case and not worth the time of day, but this 2.5 minutes is priceless, truly.

and embodied the same kind of "themes" ... All American Female, standing up for what is Right based on her Family and Religious Values, attacked by the Liberal Immoral Left.

Now it turns out that she is not the image she portrayed. She is actually a lot like Palin without (so far) the political career.

quiet Bill November 18, 2009 - 1:39am

and I had to look up her name to determine who she was. I don't think finding out was of any value to me, though.

I really like not having a TV. When I go on the road and stay in motels, I check into that world. Every time, I'm sort of shocked how much worse it seems to have gotten since the previous time I watched it. I think some desensitization has become necessary to watch TV without feeling ill, or at least seriously disrespected.

chalo November 18, 2009 - 1:43am

.... if you want to understand what the GOP and religious right are promoting and their strategy, the Carrie Prejean story is actually quite instructive.

quiet Bill November 18, 2009 - 1:47am

I watch TV only when I'm traveling... Same reaction.

creativelcro November 18, 2009 - 8:56am

canuck November 18, 2009 - 3:40am

..and counting. Yet I know who she is. Sean Paul, you should put up a survey question:

How many TV's do you own?

1. none
2. one
3. two
4. three
5. more than three

BC Nurse Prof November 18, 2009 - 3:21pm

less than three hours a week.

So some sort of watching poll is needed as well.

graham November 20, 2009 - 4:33am

is usually on, but unless it is a movie I pretty much just listen. I however refuse to watch any political or talk shows - they really bring the anger out in me.

newsradio which streams on the button on the top right.

They relay NPR, BBC, Deutsch and Nederlands news stations as well as Aussie news which gives a good overview.

Although I don't own a gun, I would buy one to shoot my tv's if they were on more often ;)

graham November 20, 2009 - 5:35am

start with the radio :D I do watch local and BBC world news. I am usually listening to comedy's(two and a half men etc..), HGTV and Biggest Loser(it got me thru back surgery and the peoples spirit really impress me.) It also really makes me not want chocolate as much LOL

Tina November 20, 2009 - 5:41am

Porsche fondue anyone?

A Porsche dealership in the Netherlands has created a choc-top version of the 911 Carrera supercar.

According to internet reports, the world’s most expensive chocolate treat has been covered in 175kg of Swiss chocolate as part of a publicity stunt for the Dutch feast of Sinterklaas, a national holiday to honour St Nicholas, the patron saint of children and the forerunner of the modern Santa Claus.

The dealership, Porsche Centrum Gelderland, covered the $250,000 sports car in cling wrap before pouring the molten chocolate over it.

For added artistic effect, the creators of the edible 911 used white chocolate for the headlights and foglights.

Sinterklaas is celebrated in the Netherlands on the night of December 5 and people have traditionally made chocolate letters to mark the occasion.
