Bobo Speaks: It's All The Libruls Fault!

I'd submit to you that David Brooks' thesis that it's 'all the fault of the libruls' is wrong. Not only that, it should really be turned on its head. If Obama had the full support of the activist/progressive community, i.e. the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party, he'd have an approval rating above 50%. See Zogby for more. And here for more as well.

Again, if Obama actually led, as opposed to an aggressively mediocre path down 'unity porn' lane, he'd have a lot more support. See Ian for the details.

I think Chris Nelson has it right on Obama:

Obama has to get mad, kick some butt, and LEAD...is the consensus everywhere except in the White House (that's the fear gripping the D's). We thought all this angst is still premature, but perhaps not...stay tuned.

Of course, The Obama White House may kick some butt. Probably it's progressive base. That would be so SOP: Blame it on the base and suck up to moderate Republicans in Congress.

What moderate Republicans?

I know. There are about four left, but two of them are senators from Maine, and they feel the pressure from their own constituents not to sleep with Southern hypocrites that dominate their party.

Snowe's support for insurance checks will probably be the key to a comprehensive reform package. That gets this nation over a huge hump, and gives the Republicans nothing. They are really doomed once that passes. For Obama, a previous senator for only four years, to pull this off in his first year, will be monumental.

If you've been for single payer forever, like me, it will seem like an over-compromised piece of crap, but comprehensive coverage is huge on the historical scale. It's really huge.

Actually, Adrianna had a good refresher post on the 'Obama doesn't get it' subject today:
