American Presidents Do Not Bow To KingsAmerican president's do not bow to kings. American president's do not bow to anyone, unless it's a Japanese premier, or a Korean or maybe Chinese one, who has initiated the bow. It's just that simple. To bow in front of a foreign monarch is an unacceptable sign that the sovereignty which derives from the American res publica is in some way lesser than the divine right of kings. I mean, what the fuck? Didn't we, like, you know, um, have a revolution for just that reason? I don't know if this is a rookie move, but to me it looks especially bad because it is directed towards the Saudi monarch. As if the United States, his country's defender of last resort is beneath his dignity! Repeat after me: American presidents do not bow to kings. Sean Paul Kelley April 5, 2009 - 10:24am
