Pootie-Poot's Comeback?

I am very much inclined to see this as the first act in Pootie-poot's return to the presidency. It was very clear when Medvedev was running and won the presidency that Pootie-poot would be his prime minister. After the story from the other day, here it's pretty clear who is calling the shots. So, I'd expect Pootie-poot to either run when Medvedev's first term is up or for Medvedev to step down at some point after the bill passes to let Pootie-poot to run. I could be wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time, but when it comes to Russia it's pretty clear at this point who is really calling the shots.

Especially when Putin had said it well in advance. You write as if you don't know or remember this.

That's not at all interesting but the tons of propaganda crap which were in news speculating about the 3rd presidential term of Putin. The news kept repeating the crap about 3rd presidential term after Putin had told about his ambitions to become the prime minister. Earlier he had many times told that he won't have the 3rd term as a president, but no news mentioned the prime minister option.

Similarly, I ask, if Hillary Clinton, well know liar, is nominated as the secretary of state, doesn't it mean, that Bush-Clinton clan will stay still in power in the USA?

Because Putin has enough power as the prime minister, isn't clearly just propaganda for the brainless to start to speculate again that he returns to the presidency?

I mean, really. I've forgotten more than most people will ever know about Russia, I speak Russian, traveled there many, uncountable times, etc. . . and so what exactly are you trying to say? That I'm stupid?

Regardless, as I recall the year or two leading up to the election many people thought Putin would have the Constitution changed. But he said he would not be the one to do it. And pragmatic and informed speculation was that he would be the PM, behind the presidential throne.

Now, he seems to be making good on his promise. He won't change the constitution, Medvedev will.

As to the Hillary thing: I personally would prefer seeing her as a Supreme Court justice. But if Obama wants he to be Sec. State (which I doubt) then why not? Ever heard the term 'keep your friends close and enemies closer?" I think Obama is smart to have a certain amount of Clintonistas in his cabinet just to make sure they don't make too much trouble on the outside.

But then again, maybe I watch too much TV and am one of those stupid people you mention. Never mind the track record of predictions here at The Agonist and the wonderful team assembled here.

If she becomes the Sec. of State, she'll merely be a mouthpiece for the pro Israeli faction Obama has surrounded himself with. She most certainly will not be allowed to think or act independently. For this reason, I hope she does not receive the appointment.

Your starting post implies speculation and you continue with that when the fact was that there was very little room for the speculation, because Putin had told publicly that he intended to be the prime minister. In your response you still refer to speculation. My point of view is that there is too much gap between writing about speculation and Putin's statements, and I don't like that. As an explanation of the gap, I think that you are either ignorant on the Putin's statement or you have forgotten it.

many people thought Putin would have the Constitution changed

That was caused by the propaganda campaign in the news.

A bill to extend the presidential term from four to six years has been backed by Russia's upper house of parliament after regional assemblies endorsed it.

All the Federation Council senators present backed the assemblies' decision to lengthen the term, the last step in the legislative approval process.

Last month, both the lower house and upper house approved the bill.

The bill's rapid progression is being seen as a sign Vladimir Putin may return to the presidency soon.

The changes needed the backing of at least two-thirds of the country's regional legislatures but were approved unanimously, according to Russian news agencies.

The amendment will become law once it is signed by President Dmitry Medvedev but will only take effect after the next presidential election.

Mr Putin became prime minister this year after being obliged under the constitution to step down after two consecutive presidential terms. He was succeeded as president by Mr Medvedev.

..
Anaylsts say it has always been assumed that Mr Putin may return after Mr Medvedev has completed one term.

But the apparent rush to get this constitutional amendment through is being seen by some as a sign that Mr Putin is in a hurry and may return much sooner.
