Net Traffic and Crashes

Very enlightening and true article over at the Times right now. I can tell you, working for a tech company I marvel day in and day out at the efficiency of the business model, the productivity of the software and all the other concomitant moving parts. But, the axiom, "live by high tech, die by high tech" is all too true. If any part of the system crashes productivity often times grinds to a halt. I don't have a Blackberry, but you can feel it in the office when RIM has tech issues. The groaning and moaning and frustration builds pretty quickly. And yet, what's happening is very fascinating, especially when viewed from this side of the globe--working for a 24/7 business. Quite an experience.

Netcraft has been monitoring server uptimes for donkey's years--and I've been using their toolbar for a very long time.

The information helped me greatly in selecting a hosting service for my own use. It's kind of hard for a hosting outfit to argue with hard numbers.
