Anything For A Few More Clicks

Just goes to show you how irresponsible a media purveyor Drudge is. He'd do anything for a few extra clicks, even if it puts a man in danger:

The defense ministry announced on Friday that Prince Harry, the third in line to the British throne, would have to come home from Afghanistan because it was too risky for him to stay there.

Harry, 23, has been in Helmand Province with the British Army since December with the knowledge of most of the Britsh new media, who agreed to keep the news secret for security reasons. Details of his deployment only became widely known when they were reported by The Drudge Report on Thursday and the British media decided that the agreement was off.

Nevermind that the Bush's girls aren't doing anything in Iraq, or Afghanistan or Mitt Romney's kids aren't there, or Chelsea Clinton too. Would that our elites gave anything other than lip service to the idea of public service, no?

with the kind of high-powered legal aid available to the British Royals, I'd be willing to wager they can get past the 'Absence of Malice' shield so often used by the tabloid media....One just can't imagine Drudge to ever operate *without* malice--all the shit he's pulled, he's done just because he could. To me at least, that's malice, not stupidity.

Try a thought experiment. Replace "Harry Windsor" with, say "James McCain" and imagine his dad is president. Now imagine Drudge had leaked the location and unit of said presidential son on deployment in Iraq. Can you imagine the outrage? Drudge would be finished, if not in jail.

The Royals have a policy of not litigating, not making statements and I expect they'll follow that policy in this case. But I'd be very surprised if a chain of irate phone calls from Downing street to White House and from WH Press Office to Matt Drudge weren't taking place.
