Senator Reid Responds . . .

. . . to the Iran NIE news today:

"Today this nation's senior intelligence analysts concluded that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003, directly challenging some of this Administration's alarming rhetoric about the threat posed by Iran. Democratic Committee leaders and I requested this assessment early last year so that the Administration could not rush this Congress and the country to another war based on flawed intelligence. I am very glad that the Administration has finally provided the NIE and I will examine carefully the full classified version in coming days.

"I hope this Administration reads this report carefully and appropriately adjusts its rhetoric and policy vis-à-vis Iran. The Administration should begin this process by finally undertaking a diplomatic surge necessary to effectively address the challenges posed by Iran. President Reagan had the wisdom to conduct diplomacy with America's adversaries in order to advance U.S. interests. President Bush should follow Reagan's example."

I'd have preferred a bill prohibiting any attack on Iran, period. But I suppose this is a good first step. Let's get that bill passed, now! What more proof do Democrats in Congress need?

Why should we suppose that the democrats in congress want to avoid a war? They certainly don't seem interesting in ending any of the existing ones.

If Reid was interested in continuing the Neo-con aggression, then why ask for the NIE? Seriously, it's nice to see him thinking pro-actively. That he asked for the NIE all the way back in January tells me he's been working at this end run for quite some time. Good for him.

Politics is the control of wealth and power. You are being conditioned to condemn politics as petty and boring, thus granting all the more control to the powers that be. You are either a part of the problem or a part of the solution. The choice is yours.

Now we should wait for the two steps backwards. That has been Reid's MO. One step forward, two backwards. Just wait.

"reads this report carefully"

Oh, Harry, Harry, Harry, there you go again, hopeless optimism, expectation way too high!

You expect George to read? or listen to those who have read?

Don't you know he's the deciderer? and God's already told him all the answers?

Puts me in mind of a comment about the English:

"The english consider themselves self made men,
so relieving God of an almighty responsibility"

I am simply glad that this country, Iran, will not be bombed soon and that Bush looks like the liar and propagandist he is.
