Legerdemain, Plain and Simple

I was thinking about this factoid cited in this post by Atrios from an AP article I read yesterday (I was prepping for this radio appearance):

Attacks on American-led forces using a lethal type of roadside bomb said to be supplied by Iran reached a new high in July, according to the American military.

The devices, known as explosively formed penetrators, were used to carry out 99 attacks last month and accounted for a third of the combat deaths suffered by the American-led forces, Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, the No. 2 commander in Iraq, said in an interview.

I think the reason they are saying this is that Sunni attacks in Baghdad are very low due to increased troops available. But the Shi'a are pissed. So, even though they can say the total number of attacks are down--and that the surge is a success, relatively speaking, by abusing statistics basically, the IRANIANS are now teh biggest threat. Legerdemain. Plain and simple. Actually, it's just all bullshit. But that's my attempt at explaining it.

The odds we attack Iran are still 50/50--because Dick Cheney has a hard on for the Iranians like a teenager in a titty bar--and it's going to cost us all. A whole lot more than a table dance, ya dig?
