Cheney, Dick

No wonder I went back to bed. After reading this anyone sane being would want to take a heavy dose of sedatives and check out:

In response to CREW's lawsuit over access to what should be public records, we learned that Vice President Cheney's lawyer told the Secret Service that visitor logs were his records, not theirs. That meant Cheney could prevent any public access. Before you read the AP article, know CREW's position according to our counsel, Anne Weismann: "The latest filings make clear that the administration has been destroying documents and entering into secret agreements in violation of the law."

Perlstein has more.

This %$#& has demonstrated more than any Executive Branch denizen I can think of, the complete and utter disdain for the law and the people he governs.

A lot of people have made a lot of money compiling Bush's quotes over the years for satiric purposes; a compendium of Cheney's pronouncements puts him, in my estimation, at the top of the heap of history's most arrogant and dangerous leaders. Unlike most politicians, he doesn't sneak around, trying to hide things and hoping no one will notice; Cheney openly and defiantly gives the finger to everyone and everything that runs counter to his personal agenda.

A significant portion of the population makes noises about impeaching Bush; I think it's Cheney who should be hanging from the yardarm.

Here endeth today's rant.
