Cliff Says . . .

. . . Ann Coulter's losing advertisers over her comments at CPAC this weekend (Crooks and Liars has a her Hannity and Colmes appearance here). If true, it's well deserved. She's free to say what she wishes and her advertisers are free to advertise somewhere else.

I promise, this is my last 'culture war' post for a while. I don't normally get involved in these things, but since Chris had me on his show today, well, you know.

... because people made the advertisers aware they were supporting and profiting off her ilk. A lot of work went into that and people can still help. Check out this Daily Kos diary where someone tracked down all the advertisers on Coulter's site and gives the pertinent contact info. As this poster notes, it's not a boycott of those advertisers, but a chance to let the advertisers know what they're being connected with a la Spock-O. Also included is a snip of what Verizon told people when they emailed them.

Dear Mark,

Thank you for expressing your concerns about the advertising of Classmates.com on AnnCoulter.com.

We are opposed to discrimination, period. The vast majority of our advertising is purchased through third party advertising networks that place the advertisements on thousands of different web sites. Our agreements with these networks generally prohibit placing ads on sites that have objectionable content. We did not directly place these ads on Ms. Coulter’s web site. We asked the ad network to pull the ad from her site and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Sincerely,

Judy

appear to be the only remaining commercial advertisers on her site. The other conservative book ads, including the one for her own, are immune. I have written to the two lone survivors as I am sure many others have. We will see what comes of it. The power of netroots is amazing. Does anyone have a sense of the value of the complete loss of advertising at an ultra-high visited site like that?
