If you listened to Col. Lang and I on the radio several weeks ago (sorry, podcast unavailable for this one) you would have heard him tell me something that surprised even me. Roughly paraphrased he said that we were telling Israel that they can't talk to Syria.
Why is that? I can only assume it is because they are "terrorists."

Imagine, if the Syrians were ready to talk, and if they and the Israelis cut a deal, wouldn't it signal what a complete sham our 'negotiations equals weakness' policy really is?
