Olbermann to Bush: "Your Words Are Lies, Sir"

This will just blow you away:

I've never seen anything like it.

I cannot recall any TV journalist possessing the righteous anger of Edward Murrow until Mr. Olbermann came along. May his ratings continue to rise.

filled with denial and deficient in reality, I think.

What think you?

The tone of that link is much like Coulter - call someone a lot of names but say nothing concrete. Many of those who "commented" were like parrots. One remarks that KO stated not one piece of the actual legislation - and I wonder if that brilliant analyst bothered to read any him/herself. I have, and KO is spot on. Hope someone is watching his back.

KO gets better and better.

he's that 'shining light' that needs to keep on shining, so we remember what the light was like as the nation's days darken.

The more of this kind of op-ed I see from him, the more I worry that he might suddenly disappear one morning/afternoon/evening/night, for the very reasons he touched upon in this segment.

we're ruled presently by cockroaches who *really* don't like KO's kind of light shone on them....I fear it's only a matter of time before they find a means to snuff that light, and leave us all in their kind of darkness, so they can finish stealing what's left of our identity and dignity as Americans, enrich themselves beyond recovery, and *get away with it all*.

Rather than pull out 'Good night and Good Luck', I think I'll pull out 'Gandhi'...to hear Ben Kingsley utter those immortal words:
"All through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants... and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall, always."

for "most absurd use of passive voice" when considering its setting in a room that contained two people.

"When sexual activity began in less than an hour..."

Indeed. Just imagine the surprise and shock on her face when that sexual activity began.

One can only imagine how long they both sat passively and watched this "sexual activity" before shrugging in perplexity and resignedly joining in. I wonder which one threw up their hands first?

Ah well. At least she didn't boil his bunny.

I tried to go to the blog about Keith Olberman being bad in bed:

forthisreliefmuchthanks.blogspot.com

But it was 'invite only.' Nifty way to prevent slander lawsuits I guess. And olbermanwatch really doesn't say much substantial. Its the right wing's attempt at mediamatters, unfortunately those darn facts are against them.

Keith is sharp, and has a great show... but he does strike me as a bit of a narcicist.

Of COURSE you can trust the US Government! Just ask the Indians.

I wonder how long before he's deemed to be an 'enemy combatant'.

stonehouse October 19, 2006 - 2:55am

He's really rather good, isn't he? Should be interesting to see if Bush takes the bait and declares Olberman an enemy combatant. There is no doubt in my mind that Bush will abuse his new powers, since historically such powers have ALWAYS been abused and George Bush is the most abusive personality we've ever seen in the Oval Office, exceeding even the transgressions of Nixon, Reagan, and ElderBush.

I fully expect the Military Commissions Act to be used to jail Bush's political opponents in the Democratic party, anti-war protestors and journalists, although Olberman's notoriety may protect him...for awhile.

After all, if and when Democrats assume power in the House and Senate, George Bush and his henchmen will be looking at serious legal trouble, unless they do something radical to stop it.

Anybody think they'll go to prison peacefully?

That's not how this coup works, and they don't have the stones to do it. They'll gear up the ad hominem machine and try to smear him instead.

Escher Sketch October 19, 2006 - 2:20pm

I know the general feeling, and certainly the reality, is that we are all just rolling over and giving up our rights without hardly a peep. How true is that? I just wonder if there are enough angry people to march on DC if someone organized it.

I would love to see a million people march there and shut down the government for a week, demanding the return of Habea Corpus. I would go for one to two weeks. Would you?

And I am anything but a nut. I am a very average Joe who voted for Bush the first time around. But I am mad at him and I am mad at Congress. How dare they?

Zman1527 October 19, 2006 - 4:10pm

you know there is going to be a sit-in on election week-end and day at the White House to start he "angry mob" if there is any hanky panky this time?

God, it would so do my heart good to see millions of Americans angry in the streets [non-violently] demanding to have our democracy back!

most speaking-truth-to-power-person with any kind of national exposure I have ever seen.
ES, i agree. He won't get put away. he won't even get asassinated...he's not big enough or influential enough. Altho, KO, i would still stay out of small aircraft...

I am amazed and absolutely dumbfounded that the era of fear-mongering and red-scare tactics of Sen Joe McCarthy are not of the past, but are here again with us, thanks to Bush/Cheney and co. In fact, they are making ole Joe look like a rank amatuer!!! I also thought of Murrow when I was watching Olberman, we need more of him. When the Republicans first starting with the "liberal media" thing in the early 90s is when I got off their boat for good, because an independent media is absolutely essential to a democracy. Democracy will NOT function for long without it. Tell that to the Fox Looney-birds!
