My Name Is NobelIt's nice to see someone truly deserving of a Nobel prize receive a Nobel prize. I started reading Pamuk about a year ago and he's got an amazing style. It's hard to explain in a blog post, but his characters are vivid, colorful and alive. His narratives often have an otherworldly but all to real quality to them. It's the subject matter of my favorite Pamuk book that really captivated me: a long meditation on the values inherent in the Muslim Art of Persia and that of the West. Or as one of the main characters calls it, "the art of the Franks." Pamuk skillfully weaves the narrative between a murder and the murderer, the Sultan, his chief artisan, the nobleman's daughter and art. My Name Is Red Sean Paul Kelley October 12, 2006 - 12:15pm
