Sticks and Carrots Again

I'm paraphrasing here a friend here, but remember this post, the one where the House passed a crucial Iran regime change bill, a kind of Iranian-Chalabi bill without any debate, last night?

Well, apparently this is a.) Santorum's bill, b.) it will disrupt urgent and very sensitive nuclear talks with Iran, c.) dissidents in Iran will quite likely die because of it and d.) it takes only one US senator to stop this bill right now.

AND NOT ONE HAS STOOD UP TO DO SO.

Inexorable indeed.

Nothing is likely to happen, as well, because there is a sex scandal on Capitol Hill right now and we all know how sex is so much more important than war with Iran, right?

Are you saying that all we have to do to derail this H.R. 6198 is get one senator to be against it? I will start calling now!

Our virtues are usually only vices in disguise.

Are the new political means.
It really doesn't matter.
I say, You say.
What matters is the truth and it has been lost!
I am right and you are wrong is the Mantra!
The problem is that the truth is now lost. Politics is the whole discussion. The lies are the new truth, and both parties have fallen in to this trap!
I can go on about this about big business stealing money from the people for their gains, but this is another story.

repressive governments mix administrative clumsiness & inefficiency with authoritarian tendencies.

But wait- there's still hope for Congress-

The Onion - Led by a bipartisan group of senators critical of White House policy on suspected terrorists, the Senate passed a bill Thursday that prohibits interrogators from exceeding 100 amps per testicle when questioning detainees.

"Even in times of war, it is counterproductive and wrong to employ certain inhumane interrogation techniques, and using three-digit amperage levels on the testicles of captives constitutes torture," said Sen. John Warner (R-VA), who has also supported reducing the size of attack dogs and the height of nude pyramids

"at some point I'm hopeful I'll figure out something to put here"
