Holy Heatwaves, Batman!

Hell must be freezing over right about now for Pat Robertson to say something like this:

We really need to address the burning of fossil fuels. If we are contributing to the destruction of the planet we need to do something about it.

What's next, cats and dogs cohabitating?

If people like Pat Robertson cared for real, then this would be huge news. In reality, he's just making noise, adopting a bit of the Vichy Dem playbook to innoculate himself against criticism.

"See?" he can say, "I care about the environment, because I said we should worry about the destruction of our planet."

If he really gives a damn, let's see him go on tour with Al Gore.

Wait a minute, I don't hate Gore that much...I take it back.

Over the coming years we will see more and more people who once poopoo'd the idea of Global Warming changing their minds about it. This will come about as evidence to support it becomes more and more sound and pronounced.

What are we going to do, we that have been shouting and clammering for attention to the issue? I think Al Gore should contact him, send him a DVD of his movie, some books and videos to help Pat Robertson understand more about it, now is the ideal time.

Let's face it, when it comes to Global Warming, religion and politics kind of take a back seat don't they. As much as we dislike Robertson and his ilk, having him understand and tell his 'followers' that Global Warming is real would be a a positive thing.

We are going to need all hands on deck.

with nuclear power plants too.

It's win-win situation for Pat.

I've noticed that the conservation movement is making a significant amount of headway in such formerly "red state" publications as Field and Stream as well these days -- they've taken a little bit of wingnut flak in the letters section for their greener (bluer?) fare, but after six years it's become progressively difficult for any sportsmen and/or lover of the outdoors to defend the Bush/Cheney record on the environment.
