Hatred Is Learned, Not Inherited

We've all heard lots about the Palestinian children dressed up as suicide bombers. I find it grotesquely appalling that children are taught to hate at so young an age.

Of course, there are two sides to every story. This video breaks my heart to watch as well. Israeli children throw stones, spit water and throw more stones at a human rights worker all the while an Israeli soldier looks on.

People, hate is not inherited. It is learned.

But neither side sees it!
Back to the old argument "I am right, you are wrong".
My old argument is still my Grandmother gave up her Jewish faith because the Zionists in the late 40's acted against her faith.
She denounced her faith because the zionists acted against all she believed in!
Before she died she asked me to appologise to the Palestinians.
I have tried to do so!

repressive governments mix administrative clumsiness & inefficiency with authoritarian tendencies.

All I'm thinking about is why doesnt the guy with the girl w/the camera just try and grab the kids and shake em up a little bit to stop em from throwing rocks at them. Not hurt them at all, just grab em by the arm or something. Considering they can't be older than like 9 or 10. Granted, its not their country, but still..it seems idiotic to me that they just sit there and take it and videotape the whole thing.

they harmed the kids? Think about that.

Yeah, my first thought is that when I see kids playing on an escalator or beating someone up on the Metro, I just shout at them and they usually run like hell. But they are secure in knowing that an armed soldier will "protect" them from any retaliation, so what can you do? Either stand up for yourself or leave.

Hate is definitely learned. These little punks deserve a good smack in the head and the soldier deserve a good kick in the ass. The HR workers need to learn to whine less, it just makes them look pathetic.

You mentioned that there is an awful lot of coverage of Palestinian kids being taught to hate. Do you have any video to this effect?

How stupid of them to not be happy with being stoned while soldiers stand by and do nothing, how ungrateful of the HR workers.

They need to be more assertive. Both with the little brats that are throwing things at them and with the soldiers. I had two little brothers growing up. They would pull that stuff with me and I would throw them into a wall. As for the soldiers, it was clear they were assholes who resented them there and weren't going to do anything unless things got really out of hand - and who knows if even they'd do their job. Personally I would have grabbed one of the little brats and if the soldier did anything, than it would be caught on tape (assuming I got to keep the tape)and it would make my argument ever more forcefully. Usually little brats will correct their behavior as soon as they know they might get hurt.

Holy shit.

If someone is throwing water and stones at me I'm going to grab him by his collar and shake him 'till he hollers.

What are you going to do, call in the UN?

Sully August 3, 2006 - 11:55am

you not volunteer. HR rights workers shown disciplining or man handling children will not help the situation.

"kids" = Israel. "soldier" = "UN". "rule of law" = "the string of UN Resolutions Israel is in breach of".

The soldier could have stopped it. But he didn't - he stood by.

So what you suggest doing is for the workers to acknowledge the absence of enforcement of the "rule of law" and take the law into their own hands and assault their tormentors.

Precisely what you hate the "terrorists" for. Way to go.

Shahadah is the declaration of faith ("Allah is one and muhammad is his prophet"). I'm not sure I understand the context of the video, but I've never heard the word shahadah used as something sinister.

..."I think a bomb just went off in my pants" expression?

Okay, yeah, it's sick - but ya gotta find the humour when you can, otherwise you'd just go nuts.

...bunch of Arab kids throwing rocks at a settler like that the soldier wouldn't have intervened? Me personally, I think there's a good chance the little "gentlemen" would have eaten a KE round.

And relevent, however he is focused on an "old" school war, not one that goes on for decades and fought by freedom fighter, terrorist, insurgents or whatever you want to call them.
