Status Quo Versus Revolutionary Power

So very, very exceptional, as in American exceptionalism:

One thing is for certain, until these conflicts are solved once and for all, they’ll continue to flare up like the current fighting in Lebanon. More evidence of the dangers of peace and the uselessness of ceasefires that maintain the status quo. Someone has to win.

My thoughts on revolution and revision have been fleshed out many times in the past.

George W. Bush resembles Napoleon III more than any other historical figure. Louis Napoleon thinking he had the same genius of his uncle, did his level best to overthrow the Concert of Europe, that amalgam of states which banded together after his uncle's defeat to keep order on the continent.

Poor Louis succeeded in overthrowing the old order, and in his success unleashed the pent up energies of a divided Germany, led by a rising Prussia and met his defeat at Sedan in 1870.

Louis would have done well to heed the benefits of peace, the usefulness of ceasefires and the maintanence of the status quo, as those were the only things keeping him in power and France great.

As well, Chirol would do well to heed the good Colonel's words. Ideas, seductive and transient as they are, aren't worth much when order and stability have fled.

are needed by many countries to keep their warmachines working and brinning money in to their coffers.
Innocent lives are just "collateral damage". A cost of doing business.

repressive governments mix administrative clumsiness & inefficiency with authoritarian tendencies.

"It's not a matter of whether the war is not real, or if it is, Victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous.

Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia but to keep the very structure of society intact."

-George Orwell

...Sound familiar?

I think that the ruling elite are TERRIFIED that the world's new freedom of information is making their message of fear and fear-driven greed look increasingly irrelevant and parasitic. For a nu,ber of years they have been panicing - they see their time ending... and as always in history, that means that while they can they will control the game by upsetting the board - like a six year old.. they act - SO - it's again TIME FOR A WAR...
