Hadji Girl

Some have argued that the song Hadji Girl is really no big deal, just the typical brutality of war making itself heard. Some of you wondered why I had the reaction I did.

Well, read this and then tell me it doesn't matter. And in case you don't know who the writer is, just know he's one of those many millions of people whose hearts and minds we are trying to win over.

We had his, but we might have lost it.

And that breaks my heart. I've many a Turkish friend and I must tell you I've never met a more loyal, friendly and kind people in all of my travels--and I have met a lot of all those types in a lot of different places.

You know what, make all the excuses you want. But remember this: one must really screw up to lose the friendship of a Turk.

That's why it matters.

Sean-Paul thanks for the nice words although I am not sure how much of it I deserved. It wasn't very friendly and fair to use Agonist for such a post. I was expecting someone would get offended and rightfully so but it didn't happen. I generally listen my mind but that time my heart did the talking and afterwards I felt uncomfortable.

I'll try to expand on my post and explain better when I have more free time. Meanwhile, I think you are right: this has the potential of becoming very ugly. May be not very visible and newsworhty like the cartoons but in real effect almost as big as that.

I would not have come across it had you not posted it in the diaries.
