Texan U.S. Senate Candidate On Net Neutrality

I just received a reply from Texas Senate candidate Barbara Ann Radnofsky to a query I made yesterday about her position on net neutrality and her recent experience on the issue. She writes back:

Net neutrality has certainly dominated my telephone time and thoughts recently. I'm on the road to San Antonio. This is trip 416 in a two and a half year campaign, and the rad-note-skys blog at www.radnofsky.com will give you a written and photographic account of many of the trips. This morning, I spoke at my opponent's home town to a community meeting at Rising Star Baptist Church about the importance of the renewal of the Voting Rights Act, and particularly section 5. Voting rights, education and fairness of opportunity tie well with
Net neutrality.

It's been a hectic, enjoyable three days since Move-on encouraged its members to contact me and my opponent to determine our positions on net neutrality. I've taken over 200 phone calls on my cell phone, and they include Republicans as well as Democrats. I didn't get people's ages, but many of the women sound as though they are in their 50s or older. I've told each I support net neutrality. Many have visited my website which I've sent them via my blackberry.

More after the jump.

Continued:

Nearly every person has expressed passionate support of and for net neutrality and pleasure that I answer my phone, and frustration that there is no one in my opponent's office who can state her position on net neutrality. Some talk about economic parity, and others talk about speed and time delays, and everyone feels the common good mandates fair access without discrimination. I spoke to many about the importance of equal access to education, and many education issues (including my opponent's repeated votes against Head Start and her other anti-education votes I've footnoted in my chart of education and other policy proposals at www.radnofsky.com under "Issues").

The callers are also generally understanding. Some want to talk about other issues, and some chat about their backgrounds (several music teachers called). Most volunteer to keep it short and appreciate a quick blackberry message from me, typically like this:

I do support net neutrality. I enjoyed the visit by phone. Here's the 4 things we discussed, and I appreciate you donating and voting in the Warner poll.

If you could also encourage your friends to also make an on-line donation at www.radnofsky.com it would make a huge difference to me. Thank you. Here they are:
4 Ways You Can Help Barbara Ann Win:

2. Sign up for Zogby interactive polling here.

3. Donate Online at www.radnofsky.com.

4. Sign up for our campaign's Yahoo! user group here to receive updates and action alerts for volunteers.

It's nice to have a Senate candidate with a personal touch. Beat's the Kay Bailey strategy by a mile.
