They Found 'Em, They Found 'Em, They Found 'Er, Nothing. . .

Well, at least that is what Rick Santorum and Captain's Quarters want you to think. And it is all based on a *.pdf (signed by John Negroponte, of course) that says this:

* Since 2003 Coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent.

* Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq’s pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist.

* Pre-Gulf War Iraqi chemical weapons could be sold on the black market. Use of these weapons by terrorists or insurgent groups would have implications for Coalition forces in Iraq. The possibility of use outside Iraq cannot be ruled out.

* The most likely munitions remaining are sarin and mustard-filled projectiles.

* The purity of the agent inside the munitions depends on many factors, including the manufacturing process, potential additives, and environmental storage conditions. While agents degrade over time, chemical warfare agents remain hazardous and potentially lethal.

* It has been reported in open press that insurgents and Iraqi groups desire to acquire and use chemical weapons.

That's right; that's all there is to justify several hundred billion dollars down the toilet and 2,500 plus lost lives. 500 degraded sarin or mustard gas shells that might have come from WWI.

Retards.

Update: Of course, DoD says Santorum is full of it.

They are just lying and lying until you believe it is the truth.

comes from this site:

This will do a few things:

1) The United States will regain a good portion of the credibility that it lost when WMDs were not initially found. Now, we all know that WMDs weren’t the only reason for attacking Saddam Hussein, but since the MSM’s incessant pounding of that drum has been heard all around the world, the WMD issue has been an albatross around the U.S.’s neck that can hopefully be removed.

2) Opponents of the Bush administration, the United States, the war in general, and the disbelievers in the terrorist threat will either have to eat crow or shut up. I predict neither will happen.

3) With any luck, this will unite the country behind the military and the United States’ mission in fighting the war against the Islamic jihadists. The U.S., Europe, and Iraq should now work extra-close together to clean up Iraq and squash the insurgents like the vermin they are. I know, I’m a dreamer.

It’s a shame that the international capital gained by this event has alread been wasted by the Bush administration in it’s kid-gloves treatment with Iran. Instead of seeing an instance where crossing the U.S. results in a loss of power and WMDs, Iran likely sees this as “too little, too late” and remains unafraid of the U.S., Europe, and their hapless allies.

Oh, of course, makes perfect sense.......
