Kalifornication, Texas Style

This is simply crap:

"At the same time, we have many power plants in Texas that are down for maintenance, so they can be up and fully operational this summer," McCullough said.

This is the same excuse that was given to Califronia. Identical. We're being played. If you cannot provide reliable electricity then you are on par with a third world nation and deregulation is a sham.

Planned maintainence my ass:

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which runs the state's power grid, said the statewide shortage was caused by record-breaking heat striking at a time when as much as 15 percent of the state's power supply was already off-line for seasonal maintenance. Then four power-generating plants shut down unexpectedly, ERCOT spokesman Paul Wattles said.

Kalifornication, Texas style.

They could have done their "maintenace" in mid-winter, when power demands are lowest. Problem is, you can't get the Republican crooks running Texas to do anything about it.

Welcome, friend, to the ranks of the screwed.

De-regulation allowed investors to game the system, in collusion with power providers/generators in CA. I'd be willing to bet the exact same situation (with somewhat different players, maybe) is happening in TX.

The Texas Legislators should immediately re-regulate. Get ready for an energy ram. The Energy Scammers have learned from California and probably bullet-proofed their scamming techniques (no evidence left behind) to inflict maximum profits. What is puzzling to me is that Texas went for Bush. California was punished for voting Democrat. Punishment was by lack of Federal Energy Regulations being enforced, that could have stopped the theft.

means the race is on to see which company can hose the public for the most amount of money. If not immediately, by slow drip to the maximum possible. The lobbyists are cuing up, eager to stuff wads of cash to ensure legislation favourable only to themselves and their shareholders is passed. But you can sure the bulk of the money will land in very few hands. None of it will be for the benefit of the suckers who just struggle to pay their bills.
