Net Neutrality HearingsYou can watch the livestream of the hearings right now, here. This stuff really is interesting and I encourage you to watch. I'm learning a lot myself. Boss Hogg no biblical scholar? Net Neutrality like the Book of Revalations? Who knew? Oh, Charlie, say it isn't so. Are you ( a San Antonio Democrat) owned by AT&T too? Not good, not good at all. Rep. Gonzalez is owned by AT&T, within the last 6 years AT&T has been in the top 10 contributors each cycle, being #3 in 2004, #7 in 2006 and #2 in 2002. In the last six years he's received $27,250 in contributions from AT&T alone. Between 1998 and today he has received over $59,750. Tell me Rep. Gonzales, who are you representing up there in DC? Net Neutrality Amendment defeated 23-8 in the sub committee. I'll have who voted and how soon. A little more on the defeat here. Update: c|net has an article up saying, "Republicans defeat Net neutrality proposal." I think that's inaccurate as I explain why above. Certainly a lot of Republicans voted against this. But Democrats did too. In the larger full Committee, the full House and the Senate there are possibilities at coalition building. Let's not build an anti-Republican narrative just yet. I think we can win this. But it will take co-operation. Sean Paul Kelley April 5, 2006 - 2:08pm
