Homeland Security 'Rises' To The Occasion ~ Again

Not one, not two, but three Homeland Security Department officials accused of 'child sex trolling.'

I don't know about you, but I certainly feel safer.

Did someone deliver DHS a crate of CIALIS, or what?

that everyone noticed that the culprit was actually the head of Operation Predator, the campaign against predatory pedophiles?

The head of Operation Predator was a child sex predator? Jesus Christ people. I'd like to know how this guy got his job...that law enforcement agent, Frank Figueroa, used to run Operation Predator. The victim, a 16-year-old girl, said Figueroa pulled up a leg of his shorts, exposed himself and masturbated for about 10 minutes, according to the Tampa Tribune.

been known to gravitate toward postions that will put them in contact with the people they intend to be predators toward (for example, "trusted" boy scout leaders.)

in the news que a little more than 5 hours ago:

Globe & Mail He's an official from Homeland Security that was arrested for Internet Luring. His name is Brian J. Doyle, he's 55-years-old.

What a scumbag! Don't they investigate the people they hire?

Cardinal...you're absolutely right. I knew of a guy in a company where I worked. One day the police came to the company wanting to speak to him. Turned out he was a convicted sex offender. He had spoken several times about a boy's baseball team he coached. He was fired from the job when the company found out he had lied about his criminal past.

Actually, I posted the news last night at 9:37, so that makes us both "scoop agonists" (LOL!)

P.S. I've also read articles that arsonists have been known to gravitate toward jobs with fire departments, and when arson is suspected, investigators look at fire department employees. For example, a large forest fire in Colorado a few years ago was attributed to a firefigher.

It is with serious trepidation that I ever edit a comment. But one of the things we pride ourselves here at The Agonist on is the rarity of foul language. We like civility. And although this behavior we have documented is outrageous and worthy of scorn and excoriation, please in the future refrain from using the 'c' word. I would be very grateful.

And please, please, please, do not take this as an upbraiding or discouragement to post of comment. It is neither. It is simply a kind and polite reminder that we all fall short (even I from time to time) of our community standards.

...'cause I'm going to lay one on you.

I think there's a whole cadre of people out there who, heaven forbid, are largely apolitical but immensely self-interested. They see the Republicans as the party of money, and they want some of that, plus the ticket to the kind of "respectability" the Republicans like to think they own.

These goons loved, for example, going to Florida and threatening Dems in 2000. They put some sweat into campaigns and were given lower-middle level jobs in Washington. They profess to be Christians. They think Randy Cunningham was just doing what comes naturally. They have fantasies about Anne Coulter. They have enjoyed playing Secret Service guys at Bush speeches, throwing the protesters out, giving 'em a swat or grabbing a tit. They entertain themselves with stuff like shoplifting Target, diddling kids. They expect to be protected by the Party. There are probably another several hundred out there who have done godwful stuff and gotten away with it -- because they were indeed protected by the Party. It's probably just another reason why Papa Bush reportedly said the other day in San Antonio that civility has departed from Washington even as he apparently didn't mention his son during his speech.

community members observe community standards. Crazy theories are mostly encouraged, unless they get too wack. Ya dig?

Dateline article I feel physically ill. If prison and counseling doesn't work, what does or will?

should help. And old age.

But parents need to know what their kids can confront when they sit down at the computer.

Actually kids should know. It will require some thinking how to place your words.

Volunteers from Perverted-Justice, experts at pretending to be kids online, are in all types of chat rooms—from local area chats to rooms setup for sexual preferences.

Frankly, I suspect the purity of the motivation of these volunteers too :-) They are doing exactly what good prostitutes do: respond to the sexual fantasies of others. These volunteers might prove to be somehow high risk people too. I recommend using more regular personnel.
