Barack Obama is quickly becoming a serious disappointment to progressives across the country. At a dinner where it was rumored Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman was booed upon his introduction, Illinois Senator Barack Obama later that same evening threw his support behind what the Stamford Advocate is calling his "mentor."
He didn't throw his support anywhere. He just threw away a great deal of good-will, if you ask me.
Nedraline! Support Ned Lamont. Rid us of Lieberman.
Update: Matt Stoller over at MyDD from the wayback machine explains more of Obama's mediocrity.
I haven't been following the Lieberman-Lamont race, but isn't it standard practice for incumbent politicians to support fellow incumbents of their own party? Obama's still too new to be flaunting the rules of the game and expect to get very far. I don't believe this is anything to hold against Obama, however one feels about Lieberman.

"Lord! What fools these Mortals be!"
he could very well have just pled a scheduling conflict and not shown up. It really is that easy.
What a great shame and waste. I didn't think he'd drink the kool aid this early.
BUT, better that he is telegraphing his intentions so soon in the game--while progressives have time to switch our resources to other candidates.
I don't think any of that shows Obama to be mediocre- just someone who doesn't have the killer instinct-and you have to have it or learn it(can't be liked by everyone, gotta nail someone who's gone after you) to win an important race. Bill C (all that bringing people together aside) did know that.
Via Atrios:
Even an Obama appearance can't help this guy. From Obama's speech at the Connecticut fundraiser:But Obama later mocked Lieberman, most likely inadvertently, when he described Bush as measuring progress in Iraq in terms of the increasing number of cellphones in use there, but ignoring the number of flag-draped coffins arriving at Andrews Air Force Base. As the article reminds us, that's a reference to this:One of those who has seen that progress is Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman. Senator Lieberman has traveled to Iraq four times in the past 17 months, and the article he wrote when he returned from his most recent trip provides a clear description of the situation on the ground. Here's what Senator Lieberman wrote -- Senator Lieberman wrote about the Iraq he saw: "Progress is visible and practical. There are many more cars on the streets, satellite television dishes on the roofs, and literally millions more cell phones in Iraq hands than before." He describes an Iraqi poll showing that, "two-thirds [of Iraqis] say they are better off than they were under Saddam Hussein." One of Obama's speechwriters stuck a little stink bomb in there.
