Net Neutrality vs. Net Neutering

Doc Searls | March 3

Linux Journal - The fight for Net Neutrality is for the place we call the Net. The fight against Net Neutrality is for a neutered Net biased toward carrying the next form of Cable TV. But what about the fact that most of us never have experienced Neutrality in the first place?

At the same time that media concentration restrictions are being removed, such that three companies will own everything, so too are neutrality restrictions for the network being eliminated, so that those same three companies--who also will control broadband access--are totally free to architect broadband however they wish.

I really believe that the internet was created as another outlet for freedom of speech and if the government is going to try and control that . Well then they are in a way starting to take away our freedom of speech.

The Government trying to control the internet is ridiculous. There is no way that agrees with freedom of speech. Also who are the ones who hold major sway over politicians, private companies. If they have a problem with another company who is to say that they won't do something to make the government ban their competitors websites? This is just an easier way to create monopolies in a capitalist economy.
