Why on earth should anyone in Missouri’s Fifth Congressional District who is under the age of fifty-five ever vote for this man, ever again?

"I'm not interested in doing anything to damage a strong Democratic principle."

Really? Really Congressman Cleaver? I guess you're not interested in it, but you'll certainly vote for it! All day long! That’s right, if you’re under the age of fifty-five, Emanuel Cleaver II is going to save Medicare by raising the age at which you get Medicare long after you have gone bankrupt, become homeless, and died for lack of Medicare.

Long live Medicare!

If you are 55 and expecting to receive Medicare in ten years, don’t expect that. When you reach 65, expect to have to buy private medical insurance until you’re 70. How much will that cost? Two thousand dollars a month? Three thousand dollars a month? Four thousand?

Until then, it will be Your Job to continue to pay for the Medicare You Won’t Be Receiving. Just like you have been all your working life. Emanuel Cleaver and his father will be receiving Medicare until then, but you won’t. Because they’re entitled to it. But you, and the millions of Americans who are younger than you, are just some line item in some budget bill somewhere.

Because Barack Obama, Emanuel Cleaver, and Harry Reid are pusillanimous cowards who wouldn’t let the Bush tax cuts for Billionaires expire, for which they would have had to do precisely nothing.

Nothing!

Because Barack Obama, Emanuel Cleaver, and Harry Reid are chickenshit poultroons who could have declared victory in Afghanistan and Iraq and used the savings to pay for things, like, say, anything other than wars nobody wants to fight and nobody wants to pay for, such as . . . Medicare !?!? But they don’t!

That’s right. The money we pay for two months in Iraq, Sixty Billion Dollars, $60,000,000,000, would be as much money as Emanuel Cleaver, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama would save by raising the Medicare eligibility age.

That is like the economic equivalent of bombing America’s senior citizens back to the nineteenth century. That is like telling thirty-year olds that when they reach that age, they can’t count on having the economic equivalent of a reliable source of electricity, water treatment, or even indoor plumbing to run it in.

Compare that with:

Who in God's Name ever thought that Democrats in Congress and a Democratic President would be the ones to gut Medicare? And that a Republican presidential candidate would be the one we would need to point that out? Are we in backwards world? No, we're in a world where we have Barack Obama as president, and Emanuel Cleaver II as the representative of Missouri's Fifth Congressional District. At least for now . . . .
