Kennedy Nails it

This is the Bush strategy all down the line, from Iraqi contracting to tax cuts for the rich to Telecom immunity:

Think about what we've been hearing from the White House in this debate. The President has said that American lives will be sacrificed if Congress does not change FISA. But he has also said that he will veto any FISA bill that does not grant retroactive immunity. No immunity, no new FISA bill. So if we take the President at his word, he is willing to let Americans die to protect the phone companies.

I doubt he's faced that outcome.

Correct version:

I doubt he studied.

(I mean, /can/ you study and only get a C at Yale?)

The logic of a crook like George Bush always contain monstrous flaws, but he diverts our attention by waving his bloody handkerchief. How long will the American public continue to fall for the same old con? Bush is like a TV magician using trick photography to make things disappear. The only way it works is if the networks are in on it. And they are.

Fortunately, some things are hard to hide. People can tell the con's not working anymore when the Bushies start to sweat.

Bush has said consistently that if Congress doesn't fund the war, he'll leave American soldiers in harm's way without equipment or pay, and blame the opposition. It's the three-year-old's argument -- give me what I want or you'll be sorry. The problem is that he'd do it, and the question is how many people should we let a sociopath kill? Now me, I favor defunding the war and impeaching immediately when Bush tried to sacrifice soldiers for politics, but I can vaguely understand why conscience-driven people are not willing to take the risk. Here on the telecom immunity bill, it's just ridiculous palaver.

With letting a sociopath take over your country.
