I'm pretty sure that list was manipulated by pranksters. (I read comments on other sites saying so, but I didn't look into their evidence.) I suspect Conservapedia as a whole gets pranked an awful lot - it's such an obvious target.

Let's assume that one in 10 look that the rest of the list, and the others look elsewhere in Conservapedia (again assuming there actually is content other than your list), then the ratio becomes 22.6:1.

The numbers are actually higher than the list looks on first impressions.

hah, your assuming that much traffic is from sincere users of the site.

im betting that spikes in hits and page veiws like this are just people checking the site for a good laugh. id say a good quarter of those veiws were immature teenage males looking for unintentionally funny crap written on the site. "gay bowel syndrome" you expect teenagers not to think any of it is just hilarious, gays and embarrassing diseases. then you have the morbidly curious who have to see just how deep that abyss goes.then you have the people who just come to mock the stupidity,extreme ideology, and bigotry dressed up as a knock off of a quality site.

I don't want to stand in denial of equal rights and all of that PC stuff but then again I do object to enrolling my five year old in the gay straight alliance. If you are going to promote something as beneficial to all of mankind than you best not attempt to shove it up my ass like it or not. That kind of thing sort of like, well, breeds contempt and reactionary behaviors.

Plus of all of the subjects deemed controversial homosexuality can be picked as one of the most decisive in fragmenting unity in American culture. By continually keeping this "in the news" unity in American society can be prevented. Yes, weapons of mass division.

That is one of the most significant repositories of "teh stupid" I've yet seen on the internet - and I've seen some doozies.

Like torture, lying, stealing, starting illegal wars based on lies should NOT be attended to in order to talk about the wicked wicked Homosexual...oh, those throbbing powerful men with their large penetrating penises, with mouths agape, buttocks flexing in anticipation...dreadful...why makes me think of a little study that was done not so long ago:

Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Unfortunately, most of those pages at Conservapedia have been deleted and recreated by now, resetting their page count... but "Homosexuality" is still #1!

By the way, it's true that the stats are being boosted by refreshbots of some sort. Some there blame it on counter-Conservapedia site RationalWiki. But consider: who wrote and sanctionned all those article - including gems like "Gay Bowel Syndrome" and "Homosexuality and Scotland" - in the first place? That was all Conservapedia's doing. More specifically, the doing of a certain User:Conservative, whose subsequent exploits can be viewed here.

With respect to RationalWiki, the boost was not actually any sort of organized or even acknowledged effort. You can see their stance on Conservapedia here - while their distaste for the site is apparent, vandalism, in general, is not condoned.

Evidently there's a good chance that whoever did this does have an account at RationalWiki, but that doesn't make the site accountable for the vandalism - and certainly not for Conservapedia's inherent insanity anyway.
