Yeah, the Washington Post is in the Tank, And They Hate Ron Paul

As Shaula pointed out (today is Shaula day here at the Agonist), the Washington Post left something interesting out of thier Iowa straw poll converage:

Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, the most outspoken opponent of current U.S. immigration policy, finished fourth with 14 percent. Former Wisconsin governor Tommy G. Thompson was sixth at 7 percent. He had said he would quit the presidential race if he failed to finish in the top two, and his campaign said late Saturday that he would make an announcement within 48 hours about his candidacy.

Notice they skip past #5? And who was at number 5? Ron Paul. It appears that even pretending to do journalism, or making gestures at being unbiased is too much for the Post these days.

... who speak the truth. And Ron Paul speaks the truth as he sees it. Although I disagree with him on many issues I believe he is authentic. That is why they hate him as much as Al Gore.

I disagree with him on some if not most issues, but Ron Paul is probably being more honest than anyone else in the current field.

Actually shy of 10%. About the same as Kinky Friedman did in the Texas governor's race.

He doesn't have a chance.

I guess people like having a government that screws them. Like some sort of weird masochism.

I did inhale.

I think he's a racist xenophobe. He wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and withdraw from the UN. Most of his positions offend me.

But he wants to withdraw from NATO and bring all troops home from overseas. I'm a single-issue voter. I'd vote for him over every democrat in the race except Kucinich. Fat chance, though.

Beto August 13, 2007 - 1:18pm

... to Kucinich.

I'm waiting for the Nantucket Journalists Association1 to tell me who to vote for - they're all white, so they'll know who's best!

1: Tim "Timmeh" Russert, Chair; David "Stretch" Gregory, Vice Chair.

Scratch a "conservative" and you will find a racist.

What a disappointment if the ballots weren’t counted correctly. Is there no end to this US voting mess? Set the damn Diedbold machines on fire and give everyone a piece of paper with a number on it that is recorded by a scrutineer (preferably with the name of the voter matched with the number that can later be verified if absolutely necessary) That makes this straw poll, indeed be made of straw...might as well throw the results to the wind. I have no favourites in this poll ... just happened to stumble across the link by googling GOP Iowa results.

How desperate can people be to either say this poll was fixed or that anyone really did screw it up. This vote is not official...why would anyone, if true, go to that trouble for an informal poll?
