I'm off in Chicago, amusing myself at Ykos and by wandering the city a bit. Will write when I get back and caught up (so probably next week.)
Have to say, what little of it I've seen, I really like Chicago.
you are having fun and thankful you are not in MPLS. Chicago is a great place to live and grow up in, my mouth is watering just thinking of the delis!
if any agonistes made it Kosopalooza. welcome to town
And may well continue to be when I have some time to reflect on my recent travels. I am currently in southern california, stationed as a salior out here, and only recently have I developed a taste for the area.
When I was younger my extended family was in Detroit, and so made our way through Chicago, if that was the way we went on the road travelling from Dallas. Chicago I only knew enough to know I liked it for the busy-ness of the downtown. In comparison to the other cities I knew, it had a lively pedestrian feel that my white flight, blighted downtowns did not have.
Imagine my suprise when I learned a good deal of Dallas and Houston's downtown activity happened below the surface in underground complexes. They were like giant malls with no sunlight.
Anyways, Chicago was my first love of city life. And it may still be after I digest my New York, Boston, and LA experiences.
I may well settle there when I am ready to put my roots down.
...you have an Italian (eye-TAIL-yun) Beef sandwich, or at least a Chicago Hot Dog. Oh and if you ask for ketchup, we have to ask you to leave. ;)
