Death Threats? Publish them or go to the FBI.

Every time some wanker gets into a fight with blogosphere, whether left or right,

I'm with Steve Gilliard on this. Publish them with headers. Or report them to the FBI. If Zengerle received a death threat, I think whoever sent it deserves to be outed.

I'm quite sure the blogosphere will help him track the person down. We don't tolerate death threats.

From this second on, however, whenever someone claims death threats if they haven't either published them, or gone to the cops, I'm simply not going to believe them anymore.

It's not the biggest issue in the world, even if Zengerle had received a death threat or two (or more), so what? No blogger called for death threats to be issued, no blogger published his home address. Death is completely out of proportion for someone like Zengerle, he deserves derision and laughter, not death.

But it isn't something we should tolerate, and it's a serious accusation used to try to smear the entire blogosphere by association. So I think Zengerle, and others like him, should either take it seriously and provide proof, or they should shut up. Because I'm guessing that a lot of these "death threats" really don't look that threatening when read in the cold light of day.

I could be wrong, of course, and Zengerle can easily prove me wrong by publishing them.

Hopefully, unlike the e-mail he claimed came from Gilliard, they'll even turn out to be real e-mails.
