This one kills me:

From today's press briefing from Tony Snow:

This[the Lamont-Lieberman primary] is a defining moment in some ways for the Democratic Party. I know a lot of people have tried to make this a referendum on the President; I would flip it. I think instead it's a defining moment for the Democratic Party, whose national leaders now have made it clear that if you disagree with the extreme left in their party they're going to come after you. And it is probably worth trying to trace through some of the implications of that position, because it is clearly going to be one of the central issues as we get ready for the election campaign this year, that is, the mid-term elections.

Did I read that right? "If you disagree with the extreme left in their party they're going to come after you?" This from what could easily be called the single most vengeful, rhetorically vitriolic and venomous nest of administrative snakes in American history? I never stop being amazed at the collossal hypocrisy--blatant, naked and totally without shame--that these people keep stuffing down our throats.

Impression - dazed and reeling and on the ropes.

Harry Reid makes it clear - November is a referendum on Bush and this was round one.

The Administration got the message - they just got a visit from the Ghost Of Christmas To Come and it's too late to change course because Tiny Tim's already dead.

Yes, but forget Tony Snow.
An op-ed in Slate today focused on the reality with more clarity and a serious problem must be addressed.
If the Democrats focus on being anti-war and anti-GW and that's the message, there is no emerging plan to respect our military and to solve the long-term problem of terrorism and constructively extricate ourselves from Iraq. Voters will tend to see a lot of angry anti-Bush people without much of a plan except for being angry at GW, angry at the war, and that goes nowhere.
The bottom line is that the Democrats must find some way to develop a constructive message about how they will better manage the nation, which will require the statement of a unifying vision that brings together elements of our heritage, embracing all people for a constructive future, and drawing the lines against totalitarianism both outside and inside the US. GW and the Neocons are about totalitarianism of their own ilk (their unstated bottom line) and that must be subtley and indirectly addressed in a way that restores faith in the fairness and openness of government.
The Democrats, then, must take the high ground and not go wallowing around in the heap of petty arguments about animal rights versus women's rights versus anti-war, versus abortion rights, versus, versus and versus. A single, clear, constructive message must emerge. That is the problem of the Democrats. They failed to do that when the country was being ripped apart by Vietnam and they handed the election to Nixon.
Who then, has the ganas to whip the Democrats into shape? Probably not Howard Dean since he seems to be a polarizing figure. Would it be Hillary, Obama, Edwards, definitely not Kerry, but then who?

..... so transparent when he makes these statements. Fleischer and McClellan were better at the deciet and propoganda. Snow just sprays the toxic venom out there with that same right wing pundit headiness. He doesn't get the art of "subtle". I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing; the fact that he can't get jabs in on the sly or the fact that he makes them so brazenly. I get the sense that the press corp in the briefing room is tired with Snow already.

Tony Snow represents my enemies; why in heaven's name would I give a rat's ass what he thinks about another enemy, Joe Lieberman?

I must admit I don't listen to Tony Snow much. There's no reason to, any more than there's reason to heed the demented rants of Hannity or Limbaugh or O'Rielly, or any of the other rightwing beastiary. I would rather listen to a pack of wolves beying at the moon.

Anybody wonder why I don't have a television? How can anybody stand to watch that howling insanity?

I use it as menu of "what not to do" actions - it's free strategic intel.

All you have to do is keep an eye out for getting gamed by comparatively rare "please don't throw me in that briar patch!" suggestions.

Cheney characterizes 'disturbing' Lieberman loss as sign Democrats weak on terror

...When reporters pressed Cheney on the point that Lieberman was just one of three incumbents to lose primary elections on Tuesday, the Vice President outright rejected the notion that there was any anti-incumbent sentiment at work. Cheney went so far as to interrupt one reporter with a one-word answer ("no,") before repeating the same answer when the reporter finished the question...

Headline News Anchor: ‘Might Some Argue That Lamont…Is The al Qaeda Candidate?’

Today on CNN Headline News, anchor Chuck Roberts discussed the impact of the foiled British terror plot with Hotline senior editor John Mercurio. Roberts asked Mercurio, “How does this factor into the Lieberman/Lamont contest? And might some argue, as some have, that Lamont is the al Qaeda candidate?” Watch it:

Cheney: Lieberman Loss ‘Disturbing’ Because al Qaeda Is ‘Betting They Can Break The Will of The American People’

As the Mideast sits on the brink of regional war, Vice President Dick Cheney spent his time yesterday holding a teleconference to discuss the outcome of the Democratic Senate primary in Connecticut.

Cheney said that to “purge a man like Joe Lieberman” was “of concern, especially over the issue of Joe’s support with respect to national efforts in the global war on terror.” He explained:

The thing that’s partly disturbing about it is the fact that, the standpoint of our adversaries, if you will, in this conflict, and the al Qaeda types, they clearly are betting on the proposition that ultimately they can break the will of the American people in terms of our ability to stay in the fight and complete the task.

O’Reilly: Lieberman’s Defeat Shows ‘Americans Have No Will To Restrain Iran’s Jihad’ »

Yesterday, Bill O’Reilly said that Joe Lieberman’s defeat in the Connecticut primary was “a chilling indication of what lies ahead in American politics.” O’Reilly said, “Iran’s betting we Americans have no will to restrain their jihad.” According to O’Reilly the results of the Connecticut primary shows Iran “might be right.” Watch it:

We can only hope that a growing percentage of voters is tired of the song.

Listen, Cheney, O'Reilly, all you neocon fuckwads and your cheerleaders:

I would never back a politician who wrung his/her hands and fretfully told us "there is nothing we can do - let's come home and hide".

I don't support politicians who dump 150K troops into a sand trap to bake and die for a dream of empire, oil and profits.

I want radical Islamism neutralized. From what I can tell, so do a pretty significant number of people and nations all over the world. Perhaps if we asked them to work together on this problem, they'd help.

You guys obviously have another agenda. As a citizen of the U.S. and a member of the human race, I find your methodology repugnant, morally obscene and damaging in the extreme.

Fuck you. Lose the next two national elections, and go home to lecture and write your lying memoirs. The planet will be better for your departure.
