Don't let a bad horse drag you under

For those who enjoy quaint sayings and homey homilies, one of the best political ones is “Don’t change horses in mid-stream.”

This assumes that your horse knows how to swim.  If not, then you shouldn’t let a bad horse drag you under.  In fact, you shouldn’t take a bad horse anywhere near the stream, or even get on a bad horse, or engage in any equine metaphors.

It can be fun to play around with colorful metaphors, but they really don’t get across an accurate picture of what’s happening.

Unfortunately, colorful metaphors is about all the Bush gang has to offer, yet their followers swallow them hook, line and sinker.

This has allowed them to dodge responsibility for some truly horrendous activities, like weakening environmental regulations (Clear Skies), weakening our educational system (No Child Left Behind), and occupying a foreign country to steal its oil (Operation Iraqi Freedom).  All because the current bunch of hoodlums are “compassionate conservatives” and they have “good hearts.”

Right.

Maybe they can cover up their latest blunder by calling 380 tons of missing high-explosives “Operation Iraqi Empowerment.”  That should get a cheer from the true believers.
