Damnit

Torture video. Prepare yourself. This ain't nice.

Pisses me right off. I don't know who is doing this or why. But if any member of our government is involved, even passively, then he should be put in prison. We're in a fight for the soul of our nation. The day we allow this in our name, we are dead. Spiritually dead.

From Sean-Paul: This video was hard for me to watch. Very hard. It ain't easy. But I'm with Ian on this: it needs to be seen. People need to be disturbed. We're far too complacent (meaning me) when it comes to the MCA, which I posted on the day before yesterday that got literally NO comments. The repeal of the MCA will repeal stuff like this video. So, if you are wondering why this video is relevant there is your answer. Believe me, I don't feel happy-go-lucky about this; I don't like this; It makes me uncomfortable--very--but damnit, sometimes I have to take risks. And I am glad Don posted it and Ian pointed it out to me. If we've made you angry that means we're doing our job, which is to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted. ~spk

Ian - there is no evidence this is torture done by Americans, or sanctioned by America. However while this specific torture may not be American sanctioned, but America does torture. And a lot of people seem to think it's ok. Depending on the survey, sometimes an absolute majority. I think they should see what it is they think is no big deal.

the organs to which the Inquisitors are causing severe pain are, to me, quite major.

If it looks like Torture, and sounds like Torture.....who is BushCo to authorize - hell, prescribe - this in our name?

This is U.S. Government Sanctioned torture, runs right up to the President of the United States. George Bush allows this to happen. If it is not torture, I’m sure the President would send his daughters for a trial run, and do a book report on the experience.

While in CostCo just a few hours ago looking at the book section, right there on the end of the book isle, where all the hot released books are there were two books displayed taking up the whole display. One of the books was Culture Warrior by Bill O’Reilly, and the other was Ghost Plane by Stephen Grey. Ghost Plane is all about the kidnapping, transportation, torture, and illegal imprisonment of suspects. I was glad to see someone at CostCo would order and display Ghost Plane right next to a creep’s book. So, I had to buy Ghost Plane for a lot of different reasons, mainly to support the writer Stephen Grey, but also run up sales numbers for the book through CostCo.

I can’t state strongly enough that people buy books from people that are doing the hard and dangerous work of bringing this information forward.

I bought Torture Taxi a few minutes after I heard about it on the Al Franken Show a few weeks ago. He interviewed one of the authors, and I was amazed at how they tracked the story down. Haven't had time to read it, though. Check it out.

I can't watch the video. Torture gives me nightmares. After seeing fictional depictions or reading fictional accounts of torture, I have been seriously disturbed, usually for several weeks. As for a candid video, I really don't think I can do it. This doesn't stop me from thinking about it and speaking out against it much of the time, though. It's the sickest inhumanity, and that goes for animal and domestic abuse, too.

I totally agree that we've got to support the people working to raise awareness of this sickness.

Stop torture today.

We have a culture built on violent behavior.

Read the plot lines of the shows featured on prime time network TV. Consider the nature of the best-selling computer games.

Wé're up to our armpits in gore and it's naive to think that tolerance, love and peace will prevail in that environment.

Why don't you give any information about the video?

It may or may not be American sanctioned. The reason we front paged it was so that people could see what torture looks and sounds like. It's a lot harder to make excuses about it then.

I sent this video to Haitam in Bahrain for tranlation and for distribution in Palestein.
This has to stop!!!!!!
If Bush and Cheney approve this, they should be put through this so they can understand what they have approved. Wrap the poker in $1,000 bills so they can relate.

only reason I hadn't commented in your MCA article was that (I thought), there had been another article on it soon after it passed the House, and I'd commented on it then....indeed, it was the reason I changed my Sig to what I have now.

As for the video, stomach-turning. I can't tell if the torturers are American, though (can't make out the talking)...If they *are*, then keep this video archived for the Hague. It might be an idle hope, but I'll keep on wishing that the main minds of this regime are turned over for trial to the World Court....

There has been an unconfirmed report that the Bush family has purchased a 100,000 acre ranch in Paraguay. Paraguay does not extradite, as far as I know, however Paraguay is signatory to the State Parties of the International Criminal Court. Could this be a future hiding place for ordering Torture. Torture is unforgivable, anyone who does this knows what they are doing. Anyone who says they were ordered by U.S. Government entities is guilty also, no one gets a pass. Any contractors who were hired go to jail and the Companies that were contracted out to do this have their Incorporation Papers pulled and the CEO's go to Jail, and the corporation is disbanded and banded. Anyone in the chain of Command or Contracting Companies Chain of Command goes to jail. If a foreign country helped out with torture, then NO more aid, period. And the Congressional Slime that voted this in, shame shame shame, you are traitors and need to be tried for treason.

The best thing that a new Congress can do is sign on to the State Parties of the International Criminal Court and let the decider veto it. If the Dems get a prez in 2008 sign on the State Parties of the International Criminal Court and send those scum to the Hague.
This whole torture thing and anyone involved needs to answer to the world. Do not give me any crap about others doing this. Yes other governments do it. However, we have a choice not to torture.

seem to have reached consensus (1, 2, 3, 4) that the dialogue is Egyptian-accented.

A rough version of what's being said seems to be that the torturer is mockingly asking if the victim likes it, and the victim is saying please forgive me pasha [an honorific, like "sir"] , I won't do it again, Allah be with you.
