1. John McCain has some serious brass ones to be giving anyone grief about anything related to foreign policy after nearly putting Sarah Palin one tenuous, septuagenarian heartbeat away from the Commander-in-Chief chair (also, bullshit, McMaverick):
2. Yes, Ted Cruz really is that dumb:
3. What MJ Rosenberg said:
I spent a couple of hours with Hagel a few years ago. Talked about Israel. Happily, he is lying today & knows it. He’ll be a good SeDef.

Update:
At Hagel hearing, 136 mentions of Israel and 135 of Iran. Only 27 refs to Afghanistan. 2 for Al Qaida. 1 for Mali.

I worked for the Democrat’s campaign two years ago opposing the reelection of John Cornyn. It became obvious to me that the campaign was being underfunded by the National Democratic Committee. There were not many ads and the San Antonio office was sparse.
This became obvioous also during last summer’s campaign of the Democratic candidate opposing Ted Cruz. He was an excellent candidate with legislative experience, having sponsored several bills. But it seems that he was left out to dry, funding-wise.
I don’t know why the Dems don’t go harder after these Texas seats. Both these people seem to me to be defeatable, with good funding, ads, and endorsements by current national officeholders.
And here we Texas Democrats sit, with no Senator.
