Songs for 2009

With what’s been happening in our country and in the world in the last few weeks, I can’t say I’ve been in the best frame of mind to post music, but, but, if anything, we probably need more of it than less, as long as it’s genuine.

I thought I’d start the year with two songs that seem pretty relevant, one from Emmylou about the hope for a better life and the other, from Mary Black, covering a poignant song by Richard Thompson about the sadness of emigration.

One of these Days

Farewell, Farewell

Given the rampant anti-Semitism, bigotry and warmongering on this site, I find this song particularly relevant.

Attacking other members here is not allowed as you fully know. If you do not want to be here than don't post, lose our link... No one is forcing you to be here. We do not cancel memberships except for those who are banned or are spammers. We do not delete posts unless they break the rules(your above comment would be a perfect example)

.

If I delete your posts than it also deletes all replies after that and that is not fair to other members here. Now I guess you could continue to post personal insults and I can ban you, of course your comments would still be visible.

You're on a roll.

For as long as I can recall you've been a terrific contributor to the discussions on this site. It's just on the subject of the Israeli conflict that you go all bat crazy and start accusing everybody of outrageous things. The topic that hits your button and makes you froth and drool in the most alarming way. I gather that now, in the latest piquish and wholly irrational response you want to withdraw from the site altogether.

Well, fair enough. Everybody gets fed up with the opinions here from time to time, myself included. Why not follow the path of so many others and just back off in your knotted knickers and blow off hissy fits in private, while lurking for awhile.

If you choose to do this, I for one (despite some truly nasty insults recently hurled at me from your quarter) will absolutely welcome your return. I like reading your points of view on the many other issues discussed here and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
