Help
My wife and I filed for chapter 13 in April of this year. I understood that none of the debtors were to contact us in any way. Last week I got 3 calls from the people I have my house financed with and was told to either come up with the 1300 dollars we were behind or they would foreclose on my house. I called my lawyer and all he told me was they can't do that. Nothing else. Just they can't do that, Can someone here tell me what to do. I finally gave her a post-dated check and now just hope I can come up with the money to cover it. I am not much better off than I was before the bankruptcy. Thanks for your time
Answer:
It sounds to me like your attorney gave you a partial answer only. He should have contacted the creditor on your behalf. I don't think you should have given them *any* money outside the CH 13 repayment plan. Many "predators" will stop at nothing to squeeze money out of you. Talk to your attorney again. If he doesn't answer your questions to your satisfaction, you may need to change to another attorney.
