How To Get Around Having To File Bancruptcy

Question:
My sister is doing her best to raise three kids after her ex ran off with some 20 y.o. She was doing pretty good till this bottomfeeder of a judgement collector came around and is harassing my sister, trying to extort money out of her for a 18 y.o. judgement that was supposed to be paid by her ex. He can't find him so he is making her life miserable. This guy operates a company called Loan Resource Mgmt out of his house. His name is John Cottrell of Loan Resources Management, Inc. and he lives at 6409 Parkmont Drive, Arlington, Texas 76001 and his wife's name is Christine. He lives in Tarrant County. She feels that by filing, it would be the only way around this moron other then giving him the $35K he wants (from a $7K judgement that he probably bought for 5 cents)

Answer:
It certainly would stop matters. Of interest to me is the question of whether the judgment expired. I don't know where the judgment was entered or how long ago, but it may have expired if not properly renewed. She needs to speak with a local bankruptcy attorney.
