Update On Paperwork Situation
Called the law office today. My attorney is taking ANOTHER vacation and may not be back for a week or so. Basically the head secretary was shock *coughbullshit* that such errors could happen. Finally got her convinced that the changes needed to be made and that the next time the packet comes in I'm coming up PERSONALLY to talk to the attorney and settle this BS. I'm tired of getting the run around by this woman. Hell she's saying she won't have a court date till mid Oct. because she so backlogged on getting her paperwork to the court.
Answer:
I think it's time to find a new attorney. Find a big ruthlessly effencent law firm , ones that have anough lawers and para-legals to answer questions and fix problems on your schedule not their's. With respect, I take exception to the big firm advice. I'm solo and have a home office. I schedule an appointment with the client and spend two to three hours answering their questions, interviewing them and reviewing papers. When the office visit is over I have a draft of the pleadings for the client to review. Mistakes are corrected right there and then. I scan the documents the trustees want and insert them into the pleadings. I file cases twice a month (middle and end of month) electronically. My 341 meetings are all scheduled on the same day so I only have to make two trips a month. My rates are less than any bankruptcy mill, and I do absolutely everything myself. My clients very much appreciate dealing with me, especially the ones that have filed before. The bottom line is look around. Hire an attorney the way you'd hire any employee.
