Riding Off Into The Sunset?
My problem is comming up with the $800-1000 to pay a attorney to file Chapter 7 for me. What would happen if I payed phone and utilities bills (and truck), disconnected them and "rode off in the sunset"?
Answer:
You are certainly entitled to live underground like that, but you will not be putting your problems behind you, despite the illusion of temporary peace. Instead, you'll be constantly waiting for them to "catch up with you," knowing that the next job you get, the next time you check your credit report, the next time you try to buy something or open a bank account, that "they" will discover you and you'll have to move all over again to stay ahead of the posse. At some point, it may be less painful to bite the bullet, file for bankruptcy and just get a fresh start. At that point, you can try to put your troubles behind you.
