Checking Account Question- PLEASE HELP
I'm a full time student that used to work full time but now find myself in a very difficult situation. After losing my job with absolutely no warning, I've been struggling for the past year.. My bank account was recently closed due to excessive over drafts - I paid the fees but the bank opted to not have me as a member... Regardless, I desperately need a new checking account but keep on getting rejected - any pointers? I tried to explain my situation to the local banks but none of them seem to care - should I be trying something else? I have not filed for bankruptcy but I'm heading down that alley.. Thanks for any advice,

It depends on why you're being rejected. If the problem is an entry in the Chex System, take a look at http://www.passchecking.com/faq.php If you have any way to join a credit union you might try that. A bank I was with several years ago had closed my account for being overdrawn for too long. A year later they were paid what was owed them, but had the account listed as "wrote off". No bank would touch me, but an employer I was with had a credit union and I was able to join them. They didn't check or even care about the banking report on me. Might be worth a shot if it's an option for you, even in the future.
