Questions About Getting Ready

Question:
Well just got off the phone with the IRS. Still 2 to 6 weeks before I get my wife's ITN (Taxpayer ID). So in the mean time, to stay out of court we're basically paying just 1 doctor and having to let the others wait on the insurance claim. No way around it, we're going to have to file Chapter 7. Question is: How do I use my wife's taxpayer ID on the paperwork? Same as the SS#? Or is there something special we need to do? The attorney said the court may require a photo ID from her and a copy of the IRS letter with the number, and/or the marriage license, and/or her passport showing her original Canadian citizenship? Is this normal? Here's what we're doing, if we're missing something please let us know: 1) Contact all the creditors and get current bills 2) Make sure we have wife's ITN & State photo ID> 3) Copies of cashed checkes from bank showing INS processing numbers and that she's in the system. 4) Estimate monthly living costs. 5) Double check with attorney on down payment amount and meeting date. 6) Bang head into brick wall. Anything we're missing?

Answer:
My guess is, if you are going to file Chapter 7 anyway, you might want to stop paying the 1 doctor now also. Your attorney should know for sure about that, but I don't see any reason why you should pay the 1 doctor or any bills other than to keep utilites on, etc. Check with your lawyer first though because these are just my understanding of how bankruptcy works.
