I have an SSDI case that's presently being evaluated by the Appeals Council. I would have had my SSDI if the the original judge didn't make so many d*mn errors) When my mom passed away 6/01, I inherited her condo & some $'s. After some necessary spending, I put abt the balance into an (insurance) annuity to protect myself against creditors. This is the only $'s I have to support myself. There is no in-coming support, no medical coverage, etc. If my SSDI gets settled, (I do know that SSDI benefits can't be touched), I would like to be able to withdraw some of the ann. $'s to purchase some necessities (a new scooter, 2 new toilet bowls that are for disabled people, etc). I also need to do some necessary repairs to the condo, & I don't mean redecorating. I do have creditors. A chg card & a hospital bill. Can you give any insight about this situation? Also, since the debts do amt to approx $10k, should I file for bk? Would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Answer:
You really need to speak with a local bankruptcy attorney. He or she can review your specific situation in detail and let you know what you can and can't do.
