Auto Loans And Co-buyers

Question:
Hi all, as you may know my wife and I are in the process of filing for chapter 7. all of our debt is unsecured credit cards etc, except for the car loan. when we bought the car my father in law had to co-sign the car with us because it was our first car. now we can't afford to lose the car and we are also worried abotu my parents in laws credit, our attorney told us that all we would have to do is reaffirm the debt, by filling out a reaffermation form or something to that effect. he also said to be sure call nissan and explain to them, so I called nissan and they said the same thing, as long as we reaffirm, my parents in law's credit should not be touched. unfortunately my parent in laws don't seem to believe us. so my question is, is this true to the best of your knowledge that their credit won't be affected as long as I reaffirm? and also if it is true is there anywhere on the internet I can go that specifically says this so I can direct them to it also. thanks for all assistance!

Answer:
Your attorney is correct.
