Trying To Access Options
I have some simple questions I am a professional, divorced female. I make 50K+ ( at least right now). I am about 25Kin debt, credit card debt and car note from trying to survive for 5 years after a divorce in which i assumed the debt burden. Im 48 and dont have much saved for retirement. I would liek to be able to have a home before I die I have had friends declare bankruptcy 1-2 times. The now still own nice cars and one even purchased a fab condo. I'm struggling to just keep current on bills and pay my rent, carnote and i dont do big time spending. It seems i will pay these credit cards for the rest of my life. Have other people learned something I missed? Can u really get out from this mounting debt?
Answer:
I have written a Bankruptcy FAQ which should answer many of your questions about what is involved--it may be found at http://users.erols.com/lawyer/FAQ/br_faq.htm. I strongly recommend speaking with a local bankruptcy attorney. Most offer free initial consultations and he or she should be able to review your specific situation and let you know what you can and can't do. If you're in Maryland, DC or Virginia, please let me know--we may be able to help.
